I didn’t want to pay for my friends or feel a pressure to conform into something I wasn’t. The word "fake" was what I was afraid of. My best friend happened to join Tri-Sigma my freshmen year. She demonstrated Tri-Sigma was not like TV or any stereotype I ever heard of by inviting me to sisterhood events. The more events I attended, the more I enjoyed being in the atmosphere of a sorority. We all seem to share the same values and goals in regards to our education. Being around all of the sisters was and still is the most welcoming and supporting feeling I have ever experienced while at Oshkosh. I joined Tri Sigma because it is everything a sorority should be. In my case, it’s not about being involved; I am over involved. I joined to do something more for myself. Not to my surprise, I ended up creating an amazing group of friends and a way to get away from the stress of college."

Then I saw a whiteboard in my dorm building proclaiming that I should go to a meeting and see what Greek life was all about. I decided, "Why not? I can always leave." But I'm so glad I didn't. Joining the ladies of Sigma has given me a sense of belonging that I didn't have before, and that I probably never would've had without them. Though I am a new member, I already feel comfortable with all the girls and I can't wait for our bonds to continue growing. I'm still growing up and becoming the woman I want to be, and I know these ladies will help guide me, support me, and laugh with me along the way. As E.E.
